PEDRO TIENE INTENCIÓN DE LANZAR CON EL LICEY

21 DE AGOSTO - El lanzador Pedro Martínez dio a conocer sus intenciones de lanzar con el Licey este invierno, para de esta manera estar en forma para su participación en el Clásico de Béisbol de marzo próximo.

“Mi participación en la liga de invierno, así como en el Clásico, dependerá de cómo termine esta temporada y qué tan buena esté la salud de Pedro Martínez” indicó Pedro Martínez.

Martínez fue entrevistado desde Pittsburg, para el programa Mañana Deportiva que producen Yancen Pujols, Satosky Terrero y Máximo Díaz de lunes a viernes de siete a nueve de la mañana por CDN, La Radio en los 92.5 en FM.

“Me gustaría darle las entradas necesarias al Licey y para que la gente se divierta y al mismo tiempo estar en forma para el Clásico y darle lo mejor de mí al país”, agregó.

Pedro, además sostuvo que quiere enfocarse en el futuro inmediato de su carrera, así como de mantenerse saludable, con el objetivo de darle las victorias necesarias en lo que resta de temporada, según publica el matutino El Caribe, de este martes bajó la firma de Julio Ernesto Castro.

El periodista reseñó en su trabajo que “lanzar para Felipe Alou en el venidero Clásico Mundial, es uno de los objetivos principales que tiene Pedro Martínez en la actualidad. Pedro lo hará como una muestra del apoyo recibido por parte del estratega en la carrera del serpentinero de los Mets.

“Jugar una vez más para Felipe es un honor. Es una persona a quien admiro, respeto y le debo mucho de lo que es mi carrera, influye mucho en lo que pueda hacer de cara al futuro”, expresó Martínez a la multimedia de El Caribe-CDN.

Martínez, de 36 años, tiene marca de 4-3, con 4.96 de efectividad, ha trabajado en trece juegos en esta recortada temporada en la cual se ha venido rehabilitando.

En 69 entradas, ha ponchado 49 ponches, con 75 hits, cuarenta carreras, 38 limpias, y 28 bases por bolas en su cuarta temporada con los Metropolitanos de New York.

“No he querido mirar muy lejos hasta que Dios me ayude a estabilizarme y vea lo que verdaderamente Pedro Martínez tiene que ofrecer para las Grandes Ligas en estos momentos y para el equipo de los Mets, a quien le debo mucho respeto”, dijo.

PEDRO INTENDS TO PITCH FOR THE LICEY TIGERS IN THE DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE

AUGUST 21 - Mets pitcher Pedro Martínez brought to light his intention to pitch this winter for the Licey Tigers in the Dominican Winter League as preparation to participate in the World Baseball Classic next March.

“My participation in the Dominican winter league and the World Baseball Classic will depend on how I end the Major League season and how healthy I finish the year” said Pedro Martinez during an interview with a Dominican Republic morning radio station.

“I would like to pitch the necessary innings for the Licey fans and at the same time, get ready for the World Baseball Classic.  It would be the ultimate performance for my country,” Martinez added.

In an article recently published in the Dominican newspaper El Caribe, Martinez mentioned that he’s focused on the immediate future of his career, staying healthy and achieving the maximum amount of wins for the Mets.

In the article, Martinez states pitching for Felipe Alou in the World Baseball Classic is a main objective of mine; I would do so to honor all of his support throughout my career. Felipe Alou has been named the manager of the Dominican Republic’s 2009 World Baseball Classic team

“To play for Felipe (Alou) is an honor,” said Martinez.  “He’s someone I highly admire, respect, owe a lot of my career to and will influence its future.”

Overall, in discussing his future, Martinez stated, “I have not wanted to look too far into the future until God helps me stabilize the present and shows me truly what I can offer MLB and the Mets organization, who I respect a lot.”

Martínez, 36, in his fourth season with the Mets is 4-3 with a 4.96 ERA, in 13 appearances.  He has pitched 69 innings has 49 strikeouts, given up 75 hits, 40 runs, 38 earned, and 28 walks.
