The reigning champions Dominican Republic (Toros del Este) scored three runs in the ninth inning to defeat Puerto Rico (Criollos de Caguas) 4-3 in the third day of the Caribbean World Series.

The victory tied the Dominican Republic in the standings with Mexico.

The Dominican Republic was down three runs in the ninth when a triple by Esteban German (Rangers) drove in Michael Martinez (Phillies) and Jose Constanza (Braves), whom both reached base on walks. Kevin Barker (Nationals) grounded into a double playing, scoring German for the lead.

Saul Rivera (Diamondbacks) blew the save in the 9th, allowing 3 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks. Puerto Rico starter Kyler Newby (Diamondbacks) tossed 5 innings allowing only 1 run. Alex Cora (Nationals) led the offense by going 3-for-3 and scoring all three runs for Puerto Rico.

Reliever Humberto Sanchez (Yankees) pitched a scoreless 8th for the win and Julio Manon (Orioles) picked up his second save of the Series.
